Stureson on incident with Rydell: “It was deliberate”

BMW driver Johan Stureson dropped to fourth in the championship after finishing 15th in the second race at Jyllandsringen following an incident with Rickard Rydell.
“I am of course disappointed and angry after such a deliberate hit,” said Stureson.

The IPS Motorsport driver was fifth in the second race when Rydell tapped the back of Stureson coming in to the first corner.
“Everything felt good during the race and I looked set for a new fifth position and important points. But then I was hit and it was for sure an intentional manouver from Rydell. Really sad,” said Stureson.

IPS Motorsport filed a protest after the race, but the stewards judged the accident a race incident and did not penalize Rydell.

Stureson claimed fifth in the first race behind the two Volkswagen Sciroccos of Fredrik Ekblom and Johan Kristoffersson. The fight in the race left Stureson upset with the power advantage of the turbo powered Volkswagens.
“I don’t think it’s right that they are allowed. I am upset over this. The engines give them an extra boost on the straights and they pull away with two-three car lengths. I was behind two Biogas cars in the first race, but I can’t get close enough when they pull away on the straights,” said Stureson to Kristianstadsbladet.

Stureson says that the advantage of the Volkswagens is making him lean more towards joining the new Swedish Racing League by TTA next year.
“Yeah, after a weekend like this, things are leaning more towards TTA,” said Stureson who is going to announce his decision for 2012 soon.”
