Michel Nykjær confirms STCC with Chevrolet

Danish racer Michel Nykjær has confirmed that he is going to take part in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship for Chevrolet, joining regular drivers Rickard Rydell and Viktor Hallrup.
“I am glad that team manager Nicklas Karlsson and the rest of Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden lets me represent them in the important final part of the season,” said Nykjær.

Nykjær is going to support Rydell in the fight for the title, Rydell is 11 points behind Volkswagen driver Fredrik Ekblom.
“To have Michael in the team this weekend is a great strength. He is fast and he can hopefully take points from Fredrik, who has got help from his two team mates. I am 11 points behind and there is 100 points left, so we have still got all chances to win,” said Rydell.

The Dane, who is a regular FIA World Touring Car Championship driver in a SEAT León, is looking forward to take on the opposition in STCC.
“The STCC field is really strong this year and it is not going to be easy to get in to the top fight. But I know Knutstorp since before and I am going to do my utmost to help Rickard in the championship,” said Nykjær.

Two race weekends remain of the STCC 2011, Knutstorp this weekend at Mantorp Park two weeks later.
