Appelqvist joins Danielsson Motorsport at Mantorp

Privateer STCC driver Robin Appelqvist is going to drive the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship final for Danielsson Motorsport.
“It is hard not to have high expectations for the coming finale weekend. I am continuing to race in Semcon Cup and I am at least aiming for a podium at Mantorp Park,” said Appelqvist.

Appelqvist is going to drive Danielsson Motorsport’s SEAT León in the two STCC races of 2011 at Mantorp Park this weekend.

“I have known Robin for a while now and he has tested our car earlier this year. I think it is going to be very interesting to see how Robin can perform in one of our cars, at the same time that you have to remember that it is very different to the Alfa Romeo he has driven,” said team boss Alx Danielsson.

Appelqvist has taken part in three race weekends so far this season with a family-run Alfa Romeo 156 in the privateers cup, Semcon Cup, failing to finish in all races but one.

Danielsson Motorsport’s entry ups the number of entries for the STCC final to 23 cars and drivers.
