Rustad hopes to take advantage of close title fight

Tommy Rustad is the dark horse for the STCC title this year and hopes to take advantage of the fierce fight between Fredrik Ekblom and Rickard Rydell.
“It is going to be really tight between them and hopefully that will work to our advantage,” said Rustad.

The Norwegian trails the championship leaders with 26 points ahead of the final at Mantorp Park this weekend with 50 points still available.
“The main goal is to secure the team title for Volvo Polestar Racing. The driver’s title is going to tough, but anything can happen and I won the final race last year at Mantorp,” said Rustad.

The Norwegian heads to the final strengthened by a dominant victory in the previous race at Knutstorp two weeks ago.
“It was yet another dream race and the car was perfectly setup. Hopefully we can bring that to Mantorp as well,” said Rustad.

Rustad and team mate Robert Dahlgren is also involved in another title fight with Volvo Polestar Racing heading the team championship on 273 points, four points more than Volkswagen Team Biogas.se.
“The conditions ahead of this weekend are challenging, but we are looking forward to a new title fight,” said Christian Dahl, Team Manager of Volvo Polestar Racing.
