Volkswagen appeal to be reviewed again by SBF

The Legal Committee of the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation [SBF] has sent back Volkswagen’s appeal to the Discipline Committee.
“The [LC] Committee believes that it is enough to establish that the notes of the stewards show that Thed Björk announced that he was going to appeal within the prescribed time,” reads a statement from SBF.

The Discipline Committee threw out Volkswagen’s appeal on that Rickard Rydell passed Volkswagen driver Björk under yellow flags as the Volkswagen team did not hand in a written form within an hour of the the race.

Volkswagen then took the appeal one step further to the Legal Committee, which today states that Volkswagen and Björk acted correctly and that the incident shall be reviewed again.

This means that the Discipline Committee shall investigate whether the yellow flags were out or not as Rydell passed Björk. Volkswagen states in a press release that both photos and videos of the incident are available for examination by the Discipline Committee.

This means that the STCC 2011 title still is wide open and that the title could go over to Fredrik Ekblom.
