Kristoffersson fastest in Volkswagen test at Mantorp

Volkswagen completed a test session at Mantorp Park yesterday, evaluating five drivers for the 2012 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season. Johan Kristoffersson, who drove five races this year, was fastest and father and Team Principal Tommy Kristoffersson wants him for a full season drive.
“If I get to decide. I am really got to push for that he is going to get a drive,” said Kristoffersson to NWT.

Ola Nilsson, Jimmy Johansson, Jocke Mangs and Dick Sahlén also took part in the test. Nilsson was second fastest in the test, about one second behind Kristoffersson.
“I am really pleased. I knew that I was going to be quick, but I didn’t count on things going this well,” said Nilsson to Kristiandstadsbladet.

Mangs was third fastest, half a second behind Nilsson and 1.5 seconds behind Kristoffersson.
“It was a bit hard to find it right in the car straight away. I made a small error during my qualifying simulation but I improved for each lap. It felt like I could have driven a bit softer in some parts of the track to gain time. I am really pleased with the speed during my race simulation,” said Mangs.

The drivers got to start with 40 minutes practice, followed by a qualifying simulation and finally a race run over 12 laps.

The team is aiming to put two to four cars on the grid next year and some of the drivers could be required to bring a budget, according to Team Principal Kristoffersson.
