STCC says SAAB could appear in 2012

The Dealer Sport SAAB 9-3 could make an appearance in the STCC 2012 according to the championship organisers.
“It is a real Saab inside out and we are convinced that the SAAB fans does not want anything more than seeing it on the track,” said Joakim Tärnström, press officer for STCC.

The nationally homologated S2000 SAAB 9-3 was built by Dealer Sport Team for the 2010 STCC season, but failed to get on track. The team now says that they are interested in converting the engine to NGTC specifications from the original bio-gas specifications.
“We are aiming to convert the engine to the coming regulations with turbo changed two liter engines. This is currently the most cost effective way to make the car competitive for next year,” said Göran Olsson, who was responsible for building the car.

The team states that they have got an interested partner for running the car next year.
“We are getting inquiries periodically from different directions. Right now we are looking at a solution on getting the car on track with a partner,” said Olsson.
