Rickard Rydell re-signs for Chevrolet Team Sweden

Rickard Rydell has re-signed for Chevrolet Team Sweden to continue in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship 2012.
“I really like it in the team and we managed to win the championship in our first try, so the decision to extend our cooperation was not hard to make,” said Rydell in a press release.

Rydell joined the team ahead of 2010 after having one year off from racing in 2009 and team boss Nicklas Karlsson is proud to keep the Swede for a new season.
“He is an almost incredibly complete touring car driver and we are genuinely proud to continue working with him. And with the continuity this announcement gives us, I am convinced that we are ready for the next challenge,” said Karlsson.

Rydell won the championship this year under controversial circumstances where the final appeals are to this date not set yet. The Volkswagen team has filed a protest against Rydell, that the Chevrolet driver overtook under yellow flags in the final race of the year. A final decision in the matter has not yet been taken.

Chevrolet Team Sweden is the first team to confirm a driver for STCC 2012.
