Appelqvist and Berggren to run Leóns with SEAT Sweden
Robin Appelqvist and Santosh Berggren are going to drive a pair of S2000 SEAT Leóns with NGTC engines under SEAT Team Sweden banner in the 2012 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
“It is an interesting and exciting program that is aligned with SEAT’s main racing commitment,” said Åke Lundberg, Managing Director of SEAT Sweden.
While racing under the same team name, Appelqvist and Berggren are going to maintain their cars by them selves.
“It feels great to get this opportunity from SEAT and I am really going to make the most out of it,” said Appelqvist.
“This is a great opportunity for me. I have never before driven this type of car, but I really believe in this program,” said Berggren.
Appelqvist has previously raced in the JTCC and the privateers’ cup of the STCC with 12th as best result. Berggren has raced in the JTCC for the past two seasons with 5th overall in the championship last year.
The SEAT Leóns have been bought from England and 22-year-old Emil Svensson from Kristoffersson Motorsport is going to work as Team Manager for the SEAT duo.
