Michel Nykjær fastest in Mantorp Park official testing
Chevrolet driver Michel Nykjær was fastest in the first official STCC test of the year at Mantorp Park. The Dane was the only driver to get below 1:21 with the time 1:20.899, about two tenths slower than team mate Rickard Rydell claimed pole position with last year in the naturally aspirated Chevrolet Cruze.
Volkswagen drivers Johan Kristoffersson and Johan Stureson claimed positions two and three, 0.190 and 0.274 seconds behind respectively.
Honda man Tomas Engström was fourth fastest in the ex-BTCC Honda Civic, just over four tenths from Nykjær’s time. Reigning champion Rickard Rydell was seventh fastest ahead of Volkswagen drivers Patrik Olsson and Jordi Gené.
Santosh Berggren was best of the privateer drivers in the NGTC engined SEAT León in eighth, 1.5 seconds off pace. Newly confirmed SEAT driver Niclas Olsson followed in ninth, 3.168 seconds adrift.
Audi drivers and brothers Andreas and Joakim Ahlberg claimed the last two positions after completing noticeably fewer laps than the others, with Andreas being 5.6 seconds behind and Joakim 9.1 seconds behind.
