Rickard Rydell leads Chevrolet 1-2 in Mantorp warm-up

Rickard Rydell was fastest in the warm-up for today’s two Scandinavian Touring Car Championship races at Mantorp Park in the Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T. The reigning champion was just under six-hundredths of a second faster than Danish team-mate Michel Nykjaer, both drivers share pole positions for today’s two races.

On a slightly damp circuit, Rydell led the way and was the only driver into the 1:23s, whilst a second covered the top seven drivers in the session.

Tomas Engström was the closest driver to the two Chevrolets in his Honda Civic, setting the third fastest time just 0.132s down on Rydell, with Spanish driver Jordi Gené the fastest of the Volkswagens, half a second down in fourth.

Niclas Olsson was the fastest of the Semcon Cup runners in eighth in his normally aspirated SEAT León, 1.4 seconds down on Rydell, with Santosh Berggren ninth quickest in the SEAT with the 2.0 litre turbocharged BTCC NGTC engine.

Andreas Ahlberg completed the top ten in the BMS Event Audi A4.

The first race of the day takes place at 12:35 CET.
