Jordi Gené gets pole after disallowed Q2 times

Jordi Gené has been handed his first STCC pole position as five drivers had their times disallowed due to setting them under yellow flags in the Q2 session at Jyllandsringen yesterday.

Chevrolet drivers Rickard Rydell, who originally held pole position, and Michel Nykjaer, who was second fastest, had their times removed, sending them to fifth and third respectively. Other drivers who also had their fastest lap under yellow flags include Honda’s Tomas Engström, SEAT-driver Santosh Berggren and IPS Team Biogas’s Johan Stureson.

The new grid means a Volkswagen 1-2 with Johan Kristoffersson in second behind Gené , with Nykjaer third ahead of Patrik Olsson and Rickard Rydell.

The stewards took the decision to change the grid early Sunday morning after a protest from the Volkswagen team. The grid for race one remains unchanged.
