Michel Nykjaer heads Chevrolet 1-2 in Denmark
Michel Nykjaer headed a Chevrolet 1-2 in the first STCC race at Jyllandsringen in Denmark. The Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden driver won the race ahead of team mate Rickard Rydell who beat title rival Johan Kristoffersson.
The race was held on a drying track, seeing the lap times getting faster as the race progressed. Rydell closed in on Nykjaer towards the end and finished the race just one second behind while Kristoffersson was unable to match the pace of the Chevrolet duo.
Jordi Gené was flying in the final part of the race, getting past Santosh Berggren for sixth and caught fellow Volkswagen driver Johan Stureson but did not have enough laps to get past.
Patrik Olsson finished fourth ahead of Stureson, Gené, Berggren and Niclas Olsson. Previous double race winner Tomas Engström had a unfortunate race and retired on the first lap after contact with Kristoffersson.
