Johan Kristoffersson: “I’m lost for words”

Johan Kristoffersson secured the 2012 STCC title earlier today after two wins in the final race weekend of the year at Solvalla.
“I’m lost for words. I have never before won a championship before and today I took two,” said Kristoffersson.

The 23-year-old secured the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia title at Solvalla as well, but the fightback to the STCC title was emotional for Kristoffersson. The Volkswagen driver was 20 points behind last year’s champion Rickard Rydell ahead of the final as Kristoffersson retired in the penultimate race of the season at Knutstorp.

“I have only had racing in my mind since Knutstorp. I came here with the knowledge that I had to win both races to become champion and it was thanks to a lot of guys that I succeeded: The team, Volkswagen, E.ON and everyone else that have supported me,” said Kristoffersson.

Kristoffersson is in with a chance to secure a third title this year as he is racing in Superstars for Audi, currently placed second in the championship with three races to go.
