Kristoffersson wins at Solvalla and closes in on Rydell
Johan Kristoffersson won the first race at a wet Solvalla and reduced the gap to championship leader Rickard Rydell, who finished fourth, to just seven points. Kristoffersson headed the field from lights to flag while Rydell found him self in battle with team mate Michel Nykjaer.
Volkswagen secured a 1-2-3 in the race with Johan Stureson in second and a charging Patrik Olsson in third. Olsson fought hard with Rydell and Nykjaer on the opening laps, with Nykjaer pushing Olsson wide, a maneuver that Nykjaer received a drive through penalty for.
Olsson lost to fifth, but climbed back past both Chevrolet drivers. Rydell, who also got past Nykjaer in the first part of the race, finished fourth ahead of Tomas Engström who fought his way from last on the grid to fifth.
Jordi Gené finished sixth ahead of Santosh Berggren, top privateer Niclas Olsson and Nykjaer. Joakim Ahlberg was tenth and final driver to finish the race with a total of 12 drivers starting the race.
Rydell still heads the championship on 246 points, with Kristoffersson on 239 in second and Nykjaer dropping to third on 227. A total of 25 points remain to be fought for in the final race of the year.
