Will Davison on pole for the Bathurst 1000
Ford Performance Racing’s Will Davison has claimed pole position for the Bathurst 1000 after today’s top ten shootout, setting a time of 2.08.0693.
This time was less than four-hundredths of a second quicker than that of fastest Friday qualifier Jamie Whincup, who bested Davison’s time in the first two sectors but was ultimately unable to beat it.
Behind them Shane van Gisbergen, who had been on provisional pole until Davison set his time, will line up in third for Stone Brothers Racing. Davison’s team mate Mark Winterbottom qualified fourth for the race in front of Brad Jones Racing’s Fabian Coulthard.
Garth Tander, who was an early leader in the session will line up in sixth for the Holden Racing Team in front of Bathurst top ten shoot out debutante Tim Slade. Ford Performance Racing’s David Reynolds was eighth fastest ahead on Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Craig Lowndes, with Steve Owen rounding out the top ten for Paul Morris Motorsport.
The race will be held on Sunday at 10:30 AEST (0:30 BST).
