Tomas Engström is not giving up for 2013
Tomas Engström, driver and team owner of Honda team Engström Motorsport, says that he is not giving up for 2013 despite the recent financial problems.
“We are not in bankruptcy, we are negotiating with the tax agency but I am confident that we are going to make it to the grid in 2013,” said Engström to TouringCarTimes.
Engström, who drove an ex Team Dynamics NGTC-engined Honda Civic in the STCC this year, got caught out by the switch from S2000 to TTA for the STCC next year.
“It came as a bit of a surprise for us. So as you surely understand, we have to turn things around and that takes time as the final decision to switch regulations came only a few weeks ago,” said Engström.
While the Swede says that it is too soon yet to say where he is going to be on the grid next year, he hopes to be in a top class either in Sweden or internationally.
“I just came back from negotiations abroad on our future plans and I am confident. I have worked with Honda since 2002, so my ambition is of course to continue that. It is too soon to say yet where we will be next year, but the goal is to be in one of the main classes in Sweden or perhaps abroad,” said Engström.
