Kristoffersson dismisses DTM and Supercup chances
STCC and Superstars champion Johan Kristoffersson dismisses his chances of entering either the DTM or the Porsche Supercup next year, despite recently testing for both championships.
“They [Audi] made it clear that there are no seats available for next season, that this is a test to see what we are capable of and not to find a new driver already for next year,” said Kristoffersson to VF.se.
The Porsche Supercup test was thanks to his Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia title and two drivers from the test will get a seat in the Supercup next year.
“Of course it would be nice if I got nominated, I want to be the one who did the best. But one of the obstacles is that you have to put in a lot of your own money. I haven’t checked exactly how much it is, but we are talking millions [Swedish Krona]. Another reason is that the competition is hard. If you are going to do it properly, you have to do more than one year and only focus on that,” said Kristoffersson to NWT.se.
There have been rumours in Sweden that Kristoffersson could replace fellow Swede Mattias Ekström, who has also been linked to be joining BMW in the DTM next year.
“There are always rumours during the silly season. Drivers are moved back and forth amongst the teams. But I am glad that I got the possibility to test. You can tell that the level is higher than anything I have done before. They are so experienced and professional. That makes me want it even more, DTM is where I want to go,” said Kristoffersson.
Kristoffersson is not ruling out a repeat of last year to drive STCC and Superstars in 2013.
“It is possible to get a good schedule together,” said Kristoffersson.
