Team Hard set to run NGTC VW Passats in BTCC 2013

Team Hard is planning to run a pair of Volkswagen Passat CCs in NGTC specification in the 2013 British Touring Car Championship.
“We have taken delivery and started the build on our latest NGTC project, which is VW Passat CCs to run alongside the Insignias,” said team owner Tony Gilham to Autosport.

The team plans to run two Passats during the 2013 season with the ambition to start testing with the first car in February, alongside their current Vauxhall Insignias, making it a total of four cars for the team.

“We envisage two Insignias and two Passats on the grid for the opening round at Brands Hatch (30/31 March). The plan is to add two more Passats later on in the season and it could be we end up running two teams under different names. The Insignias which we acquired just before the end of the 2012 season are also going through a complete redevelopment – people will really see a difference when they re-appear in 2013,” said Gilham to btcc.net.

The team has not revealed the identity of their drivers, but confirms that one driver is already signed and that they will have “big and exciting names”. Volkswagen UK is not a part of the project, but Gilham says that he is in talks with them.

Team Hard started the BTCC 2012 season with a Honda Civic and later added a Vauxhall Insignia, bought from Thorney Motorsport.
