Adam Morgan voted best rookie of 2012 BTCC

Adam Morgan has been voted rookie of the year for the 2012 British Touring Car Championship season by the readers of TouringCarTimes.

The 24-year-old from Lancashire polled 40 per cent of the votes, beating Will Bratt, who took 24 per cent, and Aaron Williamson, who took 21 per cent.

Robb Holland was fourth on eight per cent, and Howard Fuller fifth, on seven per cent.

Morgan took a best finish of eighth at Silverstone in his Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Avensis, and ended the season 19th in the standings, finishing in the points 12 times.

He also qualified fifth at Snetterton and led the final race of the day at Rockingham, before sliding off the track in wet conditions.

Morgan will return to the series in 2013 driving for his family-run Ciceley Racing team, again in a Toyota Avensis. His car will be the former Dynojet Racing machine campaigned by Frank Wrathall in 2011, updated with 2013 parts.
