D’Alberto switches to Holden with Walkinshaw Racing
Tony D’Alberto has switched back to Holden for 2013 and joins Walkinshaw Racing with his team Tony D’Alberto Racing.
“We’re a big Holden family. Being a family-run team, that makes the family a little bit happier seeing me in a Holden over a Ford!” said D’Alberto.
The 27-year-old has raced Ford since mid-season 2011 with Ford Performance Racing and finished 23rd overall last year with eighth as best result.
“We didn’t have a bad relationship with FPR at all. It just fits better with our business structure we have, with the family having Holden Dealerships. At least now we can market the dealership side of things a bit better than we have over the last couple of years,” said D’Alberto.
D’Alberto hopes for the new cooperation with Walkinshaw Racing to boost his performance for 2013.
“The big teams will be the ones that get on top of things quicker and that’s why we wanted to make sure we were still aligned with a big team. We probably couldn’t do it ourselves, it would be too hard and the development would not be as quick. With four drivers and guys like Garth (Tander), James (Courtney) and Russell (Ingall) who all have a hell of a lot of experience, we should be able to get on top of any problems early on,” said D’Alberto.
