Clean sweep for Chevrolet in 2012 TcT STCC Awards

Chevrolet and Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden has for the second year in succession claimed a clean sweep of the best car and team category in the 2012 TouringCarTimes Awards.

A massive 41% of the TouringCarTimes readers voted Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden as the best team of the 2012 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, with Volkswagen Team Biogas in second with 27 % of the votes.

The two teams fought all season with the main battle going on between defending champion and Chevrolet driver Rickard Rydell and Volkswagen driver Johan Kristoffersson. The title went to Kristoffersson in only the final race of the season at Solvalla.

Honda Racing Sweden, with Tomas Engström driving a NGTC engined Honda Civic, claimed third most votes on 12%, ahead of SEAT Sport Sweden in fourh on 8%. Volkswagen satellite team IPS Team Biogas was final team in to the top five on 3% of the votes.

The Chevrolet Cruze claimed the top spot of the best car of the 2012 STCC. The car, driven by Rickard Rydell and Michel Nykjaer, got 30% of the votes, only just beating the Volkswagen Scirocco in second which received 27% of the votes.

Engström’s Honda Civic, built by Team Dynamics, was voted third on 14%, ahead of the SEAT León on 8% and the Alfa Romeo 156 on 4%.

The TouringCarTimes Awards will shortly continue with the overall awards where the winner from each championship will be put against each other in a final vote.
