Björn Wirdheim terminates STCC program with PTR
Björn Wirdheim is not going to race in the STCC this year for Picko Troberg Racing due to budget reasons.
“I was really looking forward to return and race on Swedish ground again with Picko. Unfortunately it does not look as it is going to happen this year, but the will and motivation is there from my part,” said Wirdheim.
The Swede was supposed to combine his STCC program with racing in the Japanese Super GT series.
“The current economical climate has put a stop for us to go through with it on the terms we have agreed on. The deal with Björn meant that the team was going to pay for his services and we have currently not been able to get the budget required. That is why we have together agreed on terminating the cooperation,” said Picko Troberg, owner of Picko Troberg Racing.
Wirdheim, who was supposed to drive a Saab 9-3 in the STCC for PTR, is instead going to focus on racing in the Japanese Super GT series for team Gainer in a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3.
