SBF meets to plan future without STCC

The Swedish Automobile Sports Federation (SBF) met with track owners, racing clubs, stewards and more to plan for the future of the official Swedish Championship without the STCC organisation.

A press release from the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation issued today read:

“The background (for the meeting) is that there no longer is a deal with the promotor STCC AB as they have chosen another path for their operations.”

The meeting is a result of a long going dispute between SBF and STCC, read more about it here. STCC is unwilling to pay the fee to SBF to get the license to arrange the official Swedish Championship for racing.

SBF has formed a work group in order to secure the future of the Swedish Championship of racing, consisting of racing clubs, track owners, drivers, team representatives and SBF.

“The group has got several possible solutions on how to practically handle the events. It was also decided during the meeting to form a joint non-profit company to handle the (Swedish) Championship,” continued the statement from SBF.

The meeting had 59 representatives present, as seen in the picture above, and was headed by SBF Federal Chairman Kåge Schildt.

“The anchoring and dialogue with our members is extremely important for a nonprofit sport federation as we are. We feel confident in our decision as we look on the gathered experience and competence present at the meeting, along with the discussions we have had,” said Schildt.
