Talks between STCC and SBF set to resume this week
The fight between the STCC organisation and the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation (SBF) could take a turn to the positive this week.
“I have high hopes that the problems are going to be solved this week,” said Fredrik Sjöqvist, Managing Director of the circuit Mantorp Park to Corren.se.
Mantorp Park is one of the tracks pointed out to be leaving STCC and joining SBF in their efforts to start a new championship.
“That is not correct. There are many rumors in the air right now and what I can say is that we have high hopes that this is going to be solved and that we are able to run the final STCC race of the season as planned. But Mantorp Park’s STCC contract, much like the contract with the other circuits, requires that we run with SBF. If there is a split, we are forced to terminate these contracts, as we can’t fulfill them. I think it is that fact that has been picked up by media as circuits leaving STCC,” said Sjöqvist.
Information to TouringCarTimes indicates that STCC and SBF are set to meet this Thursday to find a solution to continue together without a split.
“There is in my opinion a renewed will of cooperation from both sides and we as circuit owners are trying to help out to solve the situation as we best can,” said Sjöqvist.
