Sprint races and new qualifying format for 2013 STCC

The race and qualifying format for the 2013 STCC has been changed. Four of the eight races will feature two 20 minutes sprint races while the other four will feature a single 40 minute race.

The races at Knutstorp, Falkenberg, Karlskoga and Mantorp will host two sprint races while the races at Solvalla, Gothenburg, Östersund and Tierp Arena will have the longer single race.

The new qualifying format features three sessions, similar to the DTM. All cars take part in the first session, Q1, of 15 minutes, which also decides the grid for the second race.

The second session, Q2, of 10 minutes is only for the top 8 cars from Q1, with the third, Q3, and final session of 6 minutes for the top five cars from Q2.
