“Dream weekend” for ever-improving Morgan
Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan described Donington Park as a “dream weekend” after genuine front-running pace netted him a hat-trick of fifth places.
The 24-year-old caught the eye with his speed at Brands Hatch in the Toyota Avensis, and once again demonstrated he has made significant steps forward in his consistency and race craft.
After an entertaining battle with Toyota stable-mate Frank Wrathall in race one, the second encounter saw Morgan tag on to the battle for second place, tailing Matt Neal, Jason Plato and Gordon Shedden.
Morgan told TouringCarTimes: “It is really encouraging. I was behind Matt Neal I had the pace to run with him, and possibly make a lunge.
“I decided to stick behind him and wait for something to happen between Plato and Neal, but it’s the first race they’ve not taken each other off! I was sat there waiting for it to happen, and it never happened.
“It is a dream weekend. The car is working well and I think we’ll get some testing done, and perhaps unlock some more potential.
“To be racing with the manufacturers is fantastic. If we can stay with them I’ll be chuffed to bits.”
Asked what was the secret to his improved form this year, Morgan said: “I wish I could tell you! It is just all coming together nicely.
“I never though after last year I’d be battling at the front of the independents’ championship. I’m still keeping myself level-headed and not getting carried away.”
