Richard Göransson tops first test session at Knutstorp

Richard Göransson topped the first test session of the Scandiavian Touring Car Championship premiere at Kntustorp. The BMW driver lapped the circuit in 57.855, a time which was 0.118 seconds faster than closest rival in the form of Volvo driver Thed Björk.

Robert Dahlgren, who topped the pre-season testing at Knutstorp, made it two Volvos in the top three, a further 0.073 seconds behind Björk.

Volvo and BMW occupied the top seven positions with Fredrik Larsson in fourth, reigning TTA champion Fredrik Ekblom in fifth, Volvo newcomer Linus Ohlsson in sixth and Robin Rudholm seventh for BMW.

Jocke Mangs was top non Volvo or BMW driver in eighth position with his Brovallen Design prepared Citroën C5, 0.616 seconds from Göransson’s time. Mattias Andersson and Roar Lindland rounded off the top ten for Dacia and Saab.

The session was held in sunny and dry conditions, with temperatures at around 15 degrees celsius. Honda driver Tomas Engström made his first official appearance in the new Honda Civic, unfortunately ending the session after five laps in the gravel after spinning off track.

The second test session starts at 17.30 CET.
