Larsson and Ohlsson on pole position in Falkenberg

BMW driver Fredrik Larsson and Volvo driver Linus Ohlsson claimed one pole position each for the two STCC races at Falkenberg. Larsson claimed pole for the first race in a very close top three.
“I am extremely pleased, I am on the front row for both races,” said Larsson.

Larsson headed the field with 43.197, with Robert Dahlgren shadowing in second, just 0.048 seconds behind and Fredrik Ekblom in third, 0.057 seconds behind.

Thed Björk and Ohlsson made it four Volvos in the top five on positions four and five. BMW drivers Robin Rudholm and Richard Göransson was sixth and seventh, over three tenths from the top time.

The Q3 session, deciding the grid for race two, saw Ohlsson setting a blistering pace to be the second STCC driver ever to break the 43 second barrier with 42.961 and claiming pole position ahead of local hero Fredrik Larsson.
“The car was perfect in Q3 while I had some problem with traffic in Q1. My best qualifying result so far with Volvo, so I am very happy,” said Ohlsson.

Volvo had all but one car in Q3, with Fredrik Ekblom in third, Robert Dahlgren in fourth and Thed Björk in fifth.

Richard Göransson was first to be eliminated after Q2 and will start sixth in race two ahead of Robin Rudholm, Mattias Andersson, Daniel Haglöf and Jocke Mangs.

Q1 was red flagged once as Mangs went off in turn one due to fluid on the track, beaching his Citroën in the gravel trap. Mangs was able to head back to the pits swiftly and took part in the remaining session.
