Linus Ohlsson fastest in Östersund despite crashing on oil leak
Linus Ohlsson topped the final test session at Östersund, despite crashing after only five laps due to an oil leak in the final corner of the track. Volvo colleague Thed Björk crashed as well, with substantial damage to both Volvos as result and a retirement from the session.
Early reports suggest that Jocke Mangs’s car leaked oil in the final corner, with several driver spinning off but only Ohlsson and Björk hitting the barriers. The Volvo team reported that the damage was repairable for tomorrow’s qualifying and race.
The leak and crash caused a red flag for 20 minutes as the track was cleared. The session resumed, but no one was able to match Ohlsson’s time.
Richard Göransson came closest in second, 0.256 seconds from Ohlsson’s time, and Robert Dahlgren in third, a further 0.178 seconds adrift.
Thed Björk’s best time before he crashed was enough for fourth fastest overall ahead of Alexander Graff and Mattias Andersson. Fredrik Ekblom claimed seventh fastest time ahead of Fredrik Larsson, Jocke Mangs and Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte.
