Thed Björk takes last gasp pole from Richard Göransson
Championship leader Thed Björk took a last gasp pole position from title rival Richard Göransson in STCC qualifying at Östersund. The Volvo driver beat the BMW driver by 0.049 seconds on his very last lap.
“Such a nice feeling to take pole position after the hard work by the boys in the team during the night after the crash in testing yesterday. The lap was really good, but there is still more to give,” said Björk.
Göransson is going to start second ahead of Robert Dahlgren, Fredrik Ekblom and Fredrik Larsson.
“I can only congratulate Thed. I didn’t get that really good lap in Q3, I think it was more me than the car this time. But the conditions are going to change during the race,” said Göransson.
Linus Ohlsson was last driver to be eliminated from Q2 and is going to start sixth ahead of Jocke Mangs, Alexander Graff, Mattias Andersson and last year’s Östersund winner Tomas Engström in the Honda Civic in tenth.
The 40 minute race starts at 15.15 CET today.
