Thed Björk: “I am in the form of my life”

Thed Björk scored his fifth STCC victory of the season last weekend in Östersund, making this his so far most successful season in terms of victories.
“I am in the form of my life and almost everything has so far gone my way this season. I said it already before the season that I took the title as granted this year, as a bit of a joke of course, but it is for sure looking good,” said Björk.

Björk’s so far only setback this year came in Falkenberg where he had to retire due to technical problems. His worst result other than that has been fourth in the first race of the year. The most recent victory in Östersund was described as emotional by the Volvo driver.
“It was an emotional victory after the crash in Friday’s practice. The mechanics worked so hard throughout the night and provided me with a perfect car. To be able to give the team a pole and victory after that was an awesome feeling,” said Björk.

Three race weekends and 140 points remain to be fought for and Björk’s lead is up to 38 points to main title rival Richard Göransson.
“It might look like we could relax now, but that is far from the case. I’ve been racing for too long to think that I can take anything for granted in racing. Göransson isn’t going to give up and we need to keep pushing to score points. I know that we have got a strong package and the next race is my home race at Karlskoga, I am looking forward to that,” said Björk.
