Richard Göransson: “Championship lead feels very distant”

Richard Göransson was unable to challenge championship leader Thed Björk during the STCC weekend at Karlskoga and was forced to see the points gap increase.
“Despite this weekend we are still second in the championship, but the championship lead feels very distant,” said Göransson.

The BMW Dealer Team driver qualified fifth for both races, a position kept in the first race but improved to third in the second race.
“The first race felt like riding ice skates, there was no grip. It has been a tough weekend for us, but it felt nice to end the weekend with a podium,” said Göransson.

This weekend was the first since the season start that Göransson was on the podium.
“We have simply not had the speed this weekend and we haven’t had it since Falkenberg. Volvo has figured something out that we haven’t. We’ll have to put our heads down and go for it in the final three races,” said Göransson.

Göransson is 69 points behind Björk with 84 left to fight for.
