Three young drivers testing for WestCoast Racing

BMW Dealer Team WestCoast Racing performed a test with young drivers at Karlskoga last week.
“We wanted to take the chance to show what STCC is and how the STCC car is to drive. All drivers performed really well,” said Team Manager Dick Jönsson-Wigroth.

Philip Forsman, Erik Jonsson and Henric Skoog tested the BMW SR, with Forsman, a former Porsche Carrera Cup driver, was first out.
“It was a good day when I took it easy and drove with margin to get a feeling for the car. It is well-balanced and easy to drive, not far from the Porsche I am used to but there are differences. STCC is really tough and close between the drivers and it is something I really want to go for,” said Forsman.

Jonsson, currently placed fifth in Carrera Cup Scandinavia, was second in to the car and had, just as Forsman, tested the car last year in the TTA Junior Test Day.
“The first impression is that the car is really similar to the Porsche I normally drive. The brakes are incredibly good and the car is really direct. It was a giving test day which gave me an insight in how it works in a big team between drivers and technicians. With the right conditions I can for sure consider a future in STCC,” said Jonsson.

17-year-old Skoog, who currently races in the Renault Clio Cup Sweden, was the youngest driver in the test.
“It was for sure a new experience to drive such a well-balanced car, really fun! This new cars came right in time and has given (the championship) a lift. I was nervous to test with such a professional team with engineers and mechanics, but I felt comfortable and all information is really taken care of. I am humbly aiming for STCC and this test day really gave me a taste for more,” said Skoog.

Information to TouringCarTimes indicated that another took part in the test which the team did not want to release the identity of.
