Tierp Arena layout changed ahead of STCC weekend

The circuit layout for Tierp Arena has been changed ahead of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship race this weekend. Two chicanes have been removed and one left hand corner has been tightened.

The chicane on the main straight (marked as 1 on the picture below), where Alx Danielsson crashed heavily last year, has been straightened, making it flat out for the STCC cars.

The chicane ahead of the fast left hand corner before the pit straight (marked as 2) has been removed completely, meaning higher speeds in to the following corner.

The left hand corner leading in to the stadium area (marked as 3), ahead of the 180 degree turn, has been tightened to a 90 degree corner. The change means lower exit speeds, hopefully enabling more overtaking in the following 180 degree corner, while the line in to the corner is still “one file”, with more or less no possibility for overtaking.

The STCC cars head out on to the “new” circuit for the first time tomorrow in testing, with a faster lap time and higher average speed expected compared to last year.
