Göransson heads newcomer Wernersson in first Mantorp test

Richard Göransson topped the first STCC test session at Mantorp Park of the season finale weekend. But the focus was on STCC newcomer Andreas Wernersson who posted the second fastest time, just 0.011 seconds from Göransson.

Times were close in the top as newly crowned STCC champion Thed Björk claimed third fastest time and was a mere 0.079 seconds from the top time.

STCC returnee Robin Rudholm showed strong form in the first test session in fourth position, right ahead of team mate Fredrik Larsson who had a fiery end to the test session. The BMW driver stopped after eight laps with a small fire erupting in the rear end of the car, a fire which was quickly extinguished while he had to sit out the remainder of the session.

Fredrik Ekblom claimed sixth fastest time ahead of Daniel Haglöf and Robert Dahlgren. Philip Forsman and Jocke Mangs rounded off the top ten.

The test session marks the first ever official run for the current STCC cars at Mantorp Park, with the fastest lap time being two seconds faster than the Super Touring lap record set by Roberto Colciago, then driving an Audi A4 Quattro, in 2002.
