Double Volvo pole at Mantorp Park as Citroën impresses

Volvo Polestar Racing claimed both pole positions for the season finale at Mantorp Park. Linus Ohlsson was fastest in the first qualifying session and Robert Dahlgren claimed the fastest time in the second session on his very last lap.

But eyes were on Citroën team Brovallen Design and their drivers Andreas Wernersson and Jocke Mangs. STCC newcomer Wernersson impressed by claiming fourth on the grid, just 0.119 seconds from pole position. But the reigning Clio Cup champion was unable to take part in the Q2 session as he crashed on his final lap in Q1, destroying his rear suspension and leaving the team with a race against time to repair the car for the first race.

Mangs qualified fifth for the first race but fought for pole position in the final qualifying session. The Citroën driver was fastest in Q2 and held pole position in Q3 until the very last second of the session when Dahlgren beat him with a mere 0.059 seconds.

Fredrik Ekblom claimed second position for the first race ahead of race one pole man Dahlgren. Robin Rudholm was best BMW driver in sixth position ahead of Björk and Richard Göransson who is going to have a tough job to keep second position in the championship with main rivals Dahlgren and Ekblom far ahead of him in both qualifying sessions.

Björk improved his position for the second race to third ahead of team mate Ekblom in fourth and Ohlsson in fifth.

Göransson just missed out on Q3 and will start sixth for the second race, right ahead of Rudholm and team mate Fredrik Larsson.
