Reversed grid to be introduced for STCC in 2014
The Scandinavian Touring Car Championship organizers today announced that reversed grid order will be introduced for next season.
“We have a number of changes and ideas to improve the racing for next year and one of them is reversed grid for the second race,” said Greger Petersson, MD for the Touring Car Team Association.
The current qualifying format for STCC features three sessions, Q1, Q2 and Q3, where Q1 decides the grid for the first race and Q3 the grid for the second race.
2014 will see the qualifying session deciding the grid for the first race while the second race will have its grid decided with the results of the first race reversed.
The decision was announced at a press conference during the STCC finale at Mantorp Park where Petersson was joined by STCC MD Bob Huzell.
“As Greger says, we are working on a number of changes for next year and the cooperation between STCC and TCTA is working well. We look forward to a stronger 2014, something we got a first taste of this weekend with our biggest grid this year as well as three new, young and very fast drivers,” said Huzell.
