Thed Björk take final STCC victory of 2013

Thed Björk claimed the final victory of the 2013 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship at Mantorp Park. The already crowned champion made his way past Jocke Mangs in the start and pole sitter Robert Dahlgren a few laps later.
“My car was much better in this race compared to the first. A perfect end to a great season,” said Björk.

Dahlgren started from pole position but soon found him self under pressure from Volvo Polestar Racing colleague Björk and dropped to second position. The focus for Dahlgren was on Richard Göransson to take second position in the championship.

Göransson got involved in a three-car fight with Volvo drivers Linus Ohlsson and Fredrik Ekblom. The fight resulted in Ekblom trying to pass Göransson on the outside in the second corner of the lap, with both spinning off. Ekblom was forced to retire while Göransson could continue, only to receive a drive-through penalty for the incident.

Göransson rejoined the field in 13th position and had to finish ninth in order to keep second in the championship. The BMW Dealer Team driver passed Daniel Roos and Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte on his own and got two positions from team mates Fredrik Larsson and Robin Rudholm who both backed off to let him past. That meant that he climbed to ninth position and got enough points to secure second in the championship by one point ahead of Dahlgren.

Jocke Mangs fought his way to another strong podium finish in third position ahead of Linus Ohlsson.

Dacia driver Mattias Andersson equalled his best finish this year in fifth position ahead of STCC newcomer Andreas Wernersson in sixth position. Philip Forsman crossed the line in seventh position ahead of Daniel Haglöf. Bernadotte claimed the final points position for Volvo Polestar Racing in tenth position behind Göransson.
