Scott McLaughlin fastest in warm up for 2013 Bathurst 1000km
In the final practice session of the weekend before this year’s Bathurst 1000km, Garry Rogers Motorsport’s Scott McLaughlin, in the team’s last Bathurst with Holden before the switch to Volvo next year, led the way ahead of Triple Eight’s Jamie Whincup and Dick Johnson Racing’s Chaz Mostert.
McLaughlin lapped the Mount Panorama circuit with a time of 2:09.290, just under a tenth of a second faster than pole sitter Jamie Whincup’s Holden.
Chaz Mostert, in the repaired #17 Ford Falcon of Dick Johnson Racing, and will start last after crashing out in FP5, was third fastest, four-tenths of a second behind McLaughlin.
The fastest Nissan was the #360 car of James Moffat in fourth, with Tim Slade’s Erebus Mercedes fifth, ensuring all four marques were in the top five positions in the warm up.
This year’s Bathurst 1000km gets underway at 10:30 AEDT (00:30 BST/01:30 CET).
