Thed Björk claims Gothenburg pole position
Thed Björk claimed pole position for the second STCC race in Gothenburg after being fastest in the rain-affected final Q2 session. The Volvo Polestar Racing driver headed team mate Fredrik Ekblom, beating him by 0.277 seconds.
The Q2 session featured the eight fastest drivers from Q1 to set a single lap during a “Super Pole” format of one lap each. A big rain shower had hit the track minutes before the start of the session, meaning a very wet track in contrast to the try test sessions.
Richard Göransson was third fastest for Team Tidö and Fredrik Larsson fourth fastest for BMW Dealer Team WestCoast Racing. Linus Ohlsson headed Kia team mate Mattias Lindberg in fifth and sixth position.
Björk was fastest in the first Q1 session as well ahead of team mate Ekblom. The order for positions three and four were the same as in Q2 as well with Göransson in third and Larsson fourth.
The top ten drivers of Q1 are reversed for the first race, meaning that BMW driver Erik Jonsson will be on pole position just as in the first race of the year at Knutstorp. Emma Kimiläinen will line up second on the grid for Saab team PWR Racing, Andreas Wernersson third for Team Kia and Mattias Andersson fourth for Dacia Dealer Team.
