Target Competition to field fourth SEAT León

The TCR International Series entry list for the second event of the championship has been announced. While some of the cars seen in Malaysia have been withdrawn due to persistent technical issues, the race in Shanghai, China, will see two new competitors, both at the wheel of SEAT Leóns.

Chinese youngster Alex Yang will enter the race with Target Competition. Yang, who is in his rookie season in the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship with KRC Hanashima Racing, will drive in his home race in front of the massive Formula One crowd.

Zengo Motorsport also announced a line-up change, with their single León driven by 16-years-old Norbert Tóth, who replaces Ferenc Ficza for the Chinese round.

The field will also lose Diego Romanini’s Ford Focus ST, as Proteam Racing found that the gearbox issues seen in Malaysia couldn’t be addressed before Shanghai. Campos Racing have decided to field a SEAT León for Igor Skuz after the problems encountered in Malaysia with their Opel Astra OPC, further adding to the count of Spanish cars on the grid.

Jordi Oriola is still scheduled to drive an Astra for the team, hoping that the considerably lower temperatures expected in Shanghai will help get rid of the cooling issues seen in Malaysia.

The field now counts 16 cars, with SEAT, Honda, Audi and Opel represented on the grid.
