Richard Göransson breaks Volvo dominance in Anderstorp qualifying

Richard Göransson blitzed Anderstorp Raceway and was fastest in both STCC qualifying session. The four-time champion beat Volvo Polestar Racing driver Thed Björk by a massive six tenths of a second in the final session.

The Team Tidö driver was alone in getting below 1:34 in the Q1 session, setting the lap time 1:33.409. Championship leader Björk was second in both sessions, with team mate Fredrik Ekblom third in both sessions.

Fredrik Larsson, who was superior in the first wet test session, claimed fourth position in both sessions, just over one second behind his former team mate in the Q2 session.

STCC newcomer Erik Johansson continues to impress and was fifth fastest in Q1 and Q2. Mattias Andersson is going to start sixth for Dacia Dealer Team in the first race while he only managed eighth fastest in Q1.

Erik Jonsson has for the second race in succession claimed pole position for the second race thanks to the reversed results of Q1. The BMW driver will start first ahead of Kevin Aabol and Andersson.

The first race of the STCC weekend in Anderstorp starts 12:40 CET tomorrow.
