Valentina Albanese takes León TCR win in Monza
The SEAT León Racer TCR was back in Monza in the hands of Valentina Albanese last weekend, taking two wins in the Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance, within the class due to host the TCR Italian Series later this year.
Albanese managed to claim two wins in the Monza double header, clocking interesting lap times en route to beating the Fiat 500, nicknamed “Cinquone” as it’s a heavy modification of the production counterpart, built by former Superstars Series Mercedes works team Romeo Ferraris, which has a long tradition with FIAT Group cars tuning in Italy.
The win marks the first TCR win in Italy, where it is expected to become the national championship next year. In both races, the fight between the SEAT and the Fiat 500 was stopped by reliability issues for the Italian car. The SEAT León Racer was prepared by SEAT Motorsport Italia, the works team of the Spanish manufacturer in Italy.
