Rene Münnich rejoins WestCoast Racing for the next two rounds

Rene Münnich will be back at WestCoast Racing for the next two races of the year in a Honda Civic TCR car. The German, who already raced in the early rounds of the series for the Swedish team, will be on track at Singapore and Buriram, the next two rounds of the championship.

The German was part of the 1-2-3 the JAS-built cars scored in Shanghai earlier this season. The 38-year-old left the championship in order to take part in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, which was his main racing programme, at the wheel of an Audi S3.

WestCoast hope Münnich’s return will play a crucial role in the hunt for the championship, with top driver Gianni Morbidelli now 39 points behind Craft-Bamboo Racing’s Pepe Oriola.

Münnich effectively replaces Igor Skuz at the team, who in turn had replaced him, while the team have already confirmed they’ll add a fourth car at Macau for 2012 WTCC champion Rob Huff at the Guia Race, which hosts this year’s season finale.

Next up for the TCR International Series is Singapore in two weeks’ time.
