Erik Johansson out from final two STCC races
Team Kia driver Erik Johansson has been forced to step down from the final two Scandinavian Touring Car Championship race weekends due to economical reasons.
“This is of course not a nice message to deliver, but this is unfortunately also a part of motorsport. I have had a great season with Team Kia and although I would of course have liked to continue, you can’t close your eyes to the big financial assets needed to race on this level. But I am hopeful for the future, this has been the most important year so far of my career,” said Johansson.
Erik Johansson made his STCC debut this year for the team and is the best placed Team Kia driver so far this season i sixth position overall, finishing in the points in all races but two.
”That is unfortunately the way it went. Erik has done a great job this season and we hope to see more of him,” said Tobias Johansson, team principal.
Team Kia will still have three cars on the grid for the races at Solvalla this weekend as Emelie Liljeström is back alongside Kevin Aabol and Rasmus Mårthen.
