Daniel Haglöf claims maiden STCC victory at Solvalla

Daniel Haglöf claimed his first ever Scandinavian Touring Car Championship victory in the first race of the weekend at Solvalla.

The PWR Racing driver started second but made his way past pole sitter and championship leader Thed Björk early in the race.

The Polestar Cyan Racing driver lost another position not long after to Team Tidö driver Richard Göransson who then started to gain on Haglöf in the lead. But Haglöf responded and managed to pull clear to win by just over two seconds.

Björk came home in third position, securing vital championship points, with BMW driver Fredrik Larsson in fourth.

Emma Kimiläinen provided a thrilling race to fight her way from seventh on the grid to fifth position over the finishing line. The PWR Racing driver fought hard to get past Fredrik Ekblom for the majority of the race, making her move just three laps from the end.

A lap later and Kimiläinen made her way past Dacia Dealer Team driver Mattias Andersson in the same corner. Andersson crossed the line in sixth, with Ekblom in seventh. The Volvo driver had a tough race, dropping from third on the grid and was seemingly suffering from his 50 kilos of penalty weight.

Erik Jonsson was the final driver into the top eight for team Sportpromotion. The second race of the day starts at 17:50 CET.
