Fredrik Larsson to ”go for it” in title fight after Solvalla win

Fredrik Larsson scored a crucial victory in the final STCC race at Solvalla, bringing him to just within a mathematical chance to beat championship leader Thed Björk ahead of the season finale at Knutstorp in two weeks.

”We are quite far from the lead, but I will just go for it at Knutstorp and see where that takes us,” said Larsson.

The BMW driver won the final race in style, crossing the finishing line close to 12 seconds ahead of race one winner Daniel Haglöf. Many drivers struggled to find grip on the slippery and new surface at Solvalla, Larsson being one of them.

”The understeer was terrible in the first race and my fastest lap was on my final lap, that is not how it is supposed to work. But I gave my engineer free hands for the second race and we took some chances with the setup that really worked,” said Larsson.

The victory brought Larsson to 56 points behind Björk with 75 points left to fight for in the two final race heats at Knutstorp on September 25-26th.
