Alain Menu targets Q2 spot in Thailand
Alain Menu finished 12th in his Subaru STi TCR in today’s Testing session at Buriram, Thailand. The Swiss made impressive progress in his Top Run prepared car, ending up less than one and a half seconds off the pace.
“I am very happy with our progress,” admitted the Top Run driver to TouringCarTimes. “We made good steps in the right direction, so that gives me confidence for the remainder of the weekend. The team is working very well and I think there is a lot of potential in the STi.”
Menu’s expectations and ambitions rose from almost zero to hoping to gain access to the second segment of qualifying tomorrow: “My goal is to get to Q2. If we can do that, then we can fight for a reversed grid pole position. Hopefully I will have a good start, but we were so busy today that I didn’t practice that, so I can only do it twice tomorrow. Lack of experience!”, joked the Swiss.
The Subaru was raced in Singapore by Luca Rangoni, with the team practically using the two races as a shakedown of the car, and this was the first proper testing session the team was able to conduct.
