Alain Menu’s Macau weekend in jeopardy due to engine drama
Alain Menu could be set to miss the 2015 Guia Race of Macau, after the Swiss driver suffered an engine problem in the first Free Practice session on Thursday in his Top Run Motorsport Subaru WRX STi.
When the problem occured, Menu stopped the car immediately, but the damage to the engine is not fixable.
Top Run are now hoping to change the engine in time for tomorrow’s second practice session, although the arrival of a spare engine is subject to a number of variables, including customs clearance at the Chinese special administrative region.
The team are ready to fit the new engine and are working hard to make sure the Subaru WRX STi has a power unit in time for tomorrow.
The team are at a loss to explain why the engine failure occurred during practice, with no warning signs such as overheating or oil leaks.
